Bradley, Foster & Sargent, Inc. has sponsored
an internship program since 2000. Our internship
program is a form of independent study which
offers a student the opportunity to augment classroom
learning by working in a business organization.
Since its inception, 56 students have participated
in our program.
Bradley, Foster & Sargent, Inc. seeks to attract
for its internship program students who have
an interest in the financial management field
and, more specifically, investment management.
Most interns will have previously taken courses
that are relevant to this field.
Interns are given the opportunity to:
-
Obtain an understanding of
the work environment, its participants and
its customs;
-
Participate in research and
information-gathering activities;
-
Prepare and present the findings
of their research to the firm’s Investment
Committee;
-
Attend an analyst meeting or
listen to an analyst conference call; and
-
Perform various operational
support tasks.
In addition, interns will be given suggested
readings which are intended to help them understand
the fundamentals of the active and passive approaches
to equity management.
Interns work 8-10 hours per week with a minimum
of 100 hours per semester. Approximately 25%
of their time is spent on research and 75% is
spent on administrative assignments. A Portfolio
Manager or the Director of Research collaborates
with each intern on their research assignments;
the Senior Operations Officer supervises the
performance of their administrative tasks.
Interns receive the same orientation and training
given to all new hires, including a review of
Company policies. As part-time employees, they
are subject to the same privacy policy and confidentiality
requirements as are all other employees.
