Our History

Bradley, Foster & Sargent commenced business as a Registered Investment Advisor on July 1, 1994 with a staff of six full-time employees and clients with assets under management of $90 million. The firm, which was incorporated at the end of 1993, was the result of a merger of Robert H. Bradley & Company and Arcadia Asset Management. Robert H. Bradley & Company, founded by Robert H. Bradley and Joseph D. Sargent, was the successor organization of the Investment Management Group of Conning & Company, an investment banking firm founded in Hartford, Connecticut in 1912. Arcadia Asset Management was a Registered Investment Advisor founded in 1986 and owned by Timothy H. Foster.

The mission of our firm is to serve our clients well by assisting our clients – both individuals and institutions – in meeting their long-term investment goals through prudent, time tested investment management techniques and by providing outstanding service.

Since inception, Bradley, Foster & Sargent has grown its clients’ assets under management approximately 40-fold in 23 years. As of September 30, 2018, there are 15 Principals who own the firm and a staff of 37 full-time employees.
