BFS’s CFO is honored at the Connecticut Society of CPAs’ Women’s Awards
Bradley, Foster & Sargent is thrilled to announce that CFO Guergana Rangatcheva was a recipient of an Experienced Leader award at this year’s Connecticut Society of CPAs’s Women’s Awards. The Experienced Leaders category recognizes Certified Public Accountants with at least 10 years in the profession who have risen to senior leadership positions and made outstanding contributions across a range of categories. The awards presentation took place on January 20 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, CT.
Expertise in all things financial
Guergana joined BFS in 2020 and has more than two decades’ experience in financial leadership and accounting. Earlier, she spent 16 years in public accounting, helping small and mid-size companies in various industries, guiding them in all things financial, including audit, tax, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, treasury, human resources and employee benefits. As Chief Financial Officer at BFS, she oversees the firm’s finance, taxation, corporate treasury and human resources functions.
Outside of work, Guergana most enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering. A committed community leader, she has been active in the non-profit world since 2010, currently serving as a board member and treasurer of PLAN of Connecticut, which assists people with disabilities by providing access to cost-effective Special Needs Trust administration services. Guergana is also the President of Connecticut Entrepreneurs Forum and sits on the boards of several other nonprofits.

Pushing past the barriers
“When I look back on my career progression,” she says, “the things that were most rewarding were the great people I worked with, my terrific mentors – if you have an opportunity to be mentored, lean into it! – and learning by doing things outside of my comfort zone.”
Guergana earned a B.S. in accounting from SUNY Old Westbury and a B.S. in mathematics from SUNY Stony Brook. Her proudest professional accomplishment “was graduating from college with honors while working full time. It taught me the importance of having goals and pushing myself to go further.” Her next major goal is to be an advocate for the CPA career profession and help strengthen the talent pipeline.
“The more we talk about the profession and its opportunities and challenges,” Guergana says, “the more educated students and others will be on how they can build fulfilling and respected careers.”
